Mears Group has announced its reappointment as the repairs and maintenance contractor for Govanhill Housing Association, continuing its responsibility for the upkeep of approximately 3,000 properties in the area.
The new contract is valued at £2 million per annum and will run for an initial five-year term, with an option for a further five-year extension.
The scope of the contract encompasses a comprehensive range of services, including reactive repairs, void property works, medical adaptations, and facilities maintenance such as painting and small-scale improvement works, including lighting in communal areas.
As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the local community, Mears Group is also in the process of appointing two trade apprentices – one joiner and one plumber – who will be recruited from the Govanhill area.
Paul Timmons, Head of Operations, Repairs & Maintenance at Mears Group, commented: "We are delighted to continue our long-standing partnership with Govanhill Housing Association. This reappointment reflects our dedication to delivering high-quality services that benefit both the residents and the community. We look forward to working closely with Govanhill Housing Association to ensure that the properties under our care are well-maintained and our work continues to meet the high standards that everyone can be proud of."
Keith Kintrea, a local resident and Chair of Govanhill Housing Association, added: "We are very pleased to continue our partnership with Mears Group who will carry on providing essential repairs and maintenance services for our tenants. We are very encouraged by their decision to set up two apprenticeships for local young people, demonstrating their commitment to the wider community, and our own ethos as a community-based Association who provide more than just housing."
The continued partnership with Govanhill Housing Association is a significant milestone for Mears Group, reinforcing its presence and commitment to delivering essential housing services in Scotland.
