Hillcrest Appoints Former Dundee Council Leader As New Chief Executive

Hillcrest has announced the appointment of John Alexander as its new Chief Executive, with his tenure set to begin in early Summer 2025.

John Alexander currently serves as the Head of Local Authorities within SSEN Transmission and brings a wealth of experience from a diverse range of sectors at both local and national levels. His previous roles include Leader of Dundee City Council, board member of NHS Tayside, and member of the National Advisory Council.

Mr Alexander has a strong track record of working towards building thriving and inclusive communities and is described as having a deep passion for achieving positive change. His understanding of the sector, coupled with a significant commitment to social impact, is seen as closely aligning with Hillcrest’s core mission of helping people live better lives.

The appointment follows a comprehensive recruitment process, with the selection panel unanimously agreeing that Mr Alexander not only possesses exceptional expertise but also shares the fundamental vision and values that underpin Hillcrest's operations.

Dave Boyle, Hillcrest’s Chairperson, expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment: “We are thrilled to welcome John to lead Hillcrest into the future. John Alexander will succeed Angela Linton, who is stepping down from the role after more than 30 years of dedicated service to Hillcrest.
