Argyll and Bute Council is inviting Mid Argyll residents to provide feedback on detailed design proposals for an improved walking, wheeling, and cycling route between Lochgilphead Front Green and the Crinan Canal.
A public consultation event will be held at Lochgilphead Baptist Church on March 4th, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Attendees can review the detailed design and speak with the design team. This event follows the concept design presentation from 2023.
Those unable to attend can participate in an online consultation from March 4th to April 15th. The consultation webpage will be live from 4:00 pm on March 4th.
"We are committed to improving accessibility for everyone and addressing the challenges of climate change through sustainable travel options," said Councillor John Armour, the council's Policy Lead for Roads and Transport. "For many years we have been asking residents of Mid Argyll about the barriers they face walking, wheeling and cycling in Lochgilphead and Ardrishaig. This information has allowed the council to obtain funding from partner organisations, including SUSTRANS, Transport Scotland and HITRANS, to try and find solutions to help remove or overcome these barriers. The proposed route between Lochgilphead Front Green and the Crinan Canal offers a safe alternative to car travel and takes in the stunning scenery that we have on our doorstep. Thank you to everyone who took part in our recent consultations – your feedback has been paramount in reaching this next stage."
The project is funded by Transport Scotland.
