East Renfrewshire Council has successfully reached the final stage in the handover of 105 new homes within the Cala Homes (West) Newton Mearns development, providing much-needed housing for 246 council tenants.
The new homes include a mix of 36 one-bedroom flats, 37 two-bedroom homes, 26 three-bedroom houses, and 6 four-bedroom properties.
The development represents a significant investment of more than £19 million, with funding sourced from Scottish Government grants, developer contributions, and the council’s own capital investment. This project follows the successful delivery of 96 affordable homes in Maidenhill in recent years, built in partnership with Taylor Wimpey and Robertson Homes.
Designed with sustainability, the high-quality homes feature solar panels to help reduce tenants' energy bills, and a water mist system installed in all rooms, which activates when excessive heat is detected, ensuring added safety for residents.
