Planning permission has been granted for a new leisure centre and theatre at Eastwood Park in East Renfrewshire.

The new complex will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including an eight-lane swimming pool, a learner pool, a significantly larger fitness suite with three fitness studios, and a four-court games hall. The theatre will also be expanded and improved, with the addition of a smaller studio theatre and a bar.

"This is a significant milestone in our plans to replace facilities which are more than 40 years old and no longer fit for purpose," said a spokesperson for East Renfrewshire Council. "The council is committed to delivering a new leisure centre and theatre to provide much-improved amenities for local residents for generations to come."

Construction is expected to begin later this year, with the new facilities anticipated to open to the public in the second half of 2027.

The existing leisure centre and theatre will remain operational throughout the construction period.
