BMI Launches 2025 Apprentice Of The Year Competition

Construction News Image
BMI has launched its annual Apprentice of the Year competition, offering a platform for the next generation of roofing professionals to showcase their skills and compete for valuable prizes.

The competition, now in its eighth year, will see up to 20 apprentices compete in a two-day final at the BMI Academy in Gloucestershire in July.

"The BMI Apprentice of the Year competition is a highlight in our calendar because we get to meet the best of the UK's future roofers," said Fraser Biles, Commercial Director at BMI. "We're not just looking for someone who can install a roof well, however. We're looking for the whole package: someone who will be a great representative for the industry in the future."

The competition aims to encourage young people to pursue careers in roofing and address the skills shortage within the industry.

Apprentices will be assessed on a range of skills, including technical ability, teamwork, presentation skills, and commercial acumen.

The winners, one in pitched roofing and one in flat roofing, will receive a £1,000 cash prize and three years' worth of free training at the BMI Academy.

Applications for the competition are now open and will close on April 14th, 2025.
