New Multi-Use Games Area Opens In Hill Of Beath

A new Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) has officially opened in Hill of Beath, offering a state-of-the-art facility for the local community.

The £130,000 project, funded by Fife Council's Cowdenbeath Area Committee, aims to promote active lifestyles and inclusive play. The MUGA was unveiled alongside a new play park, which was completed earlier in the year.

The MUGA project experienced some delays due to planning permissions and drainage works, but it has now been completed and is open to the public.

Welcoming the opening, Councillor Alex Campbell, Cowdenbeath Area Convener, said: "This fantastic new facility is a great asset for Hill of Beath. It’s wonderful to see the community coming together to celebrate the opening, and I’m confident the MUGA will be enjoyed for years to come by people of all ages."

In addition to the MUGA and play park, the project also included resurfacing the car park at the nearby ex-servicemen’s club, further enhancing the amenities for the local community. Resurfacing of the car park has been rescheduled and is set to take place in spring 2025, when warmer weather conditions are more suitable.

Hill of Beath Community Council and local residents were engaged in shaping these developments through public consultations held in September 2021, helping ensure the projects met community needs and expectations.

The opening of the MUGA is the latest step in Fife Council’s commitment to improving recreational spaces and promoting health and wellbeing across the area.
