Glasgow City Council Approves Land Disposals for Development

Glasgow City Council has given the green light to the sale of four land plots in the city to facilitate various development projects.

The sites in question are located in Carmyle, Deaconsbank, Maryhill, and Port Dundas. The disposals are expected to generate significant capital receipts for the council and contribute to local economic growth.

In Carmyle, a 3.01-hectare site at Kenmuir Road will be sold to Carmyle Developments Limited for the construction of new homes and highway improvements.

In Deaconsbank, Glen Oaks Housing Association will acquire four plots of vacant land totaling 1.46 hectares to develop 25 affordable homes.

In Maryhill, Maryhill Housing Association will purchase a former day care centre to create a dementia-friendly residential development with 12 one-bedroom and two two-bedroom flats.

Finally, Chan's Limited will acquire a 0.25-hectare site at Farnell Street to expand its business operations.

Councillor Ruairi Kelly, Convener for Housing, Development and Land Use at Glasgow City Council,said: "The approval of these disposals today will bring significant benefit to the city, with much-need new homes - included a dementia-friendly development - to be built at three locations in the north, south and east of the city, and the expansion of a Glasgow business, bringing new jobs. In addition, the capital receipts generated through the disposals will further support public services in Glasgow."
