A985 Resurfacing Works To Target Crombie And High Valleyfield

Construction News Image
Overnight resurfacing works to improve the A985 at Crombie and High Valleyfield will begin from next week onwards.

The works will be carried out by BEAR Scotland over a three and-a-half week stretch, with the project initially focusing on the Crombie road from Monday, October 28 until Friday, November 1 between the working hours of 7.30pm to 6.30am.

There will be a road closure with a signed diversion between Cairneyhill Roundabout and Kings Road Roundabout.

Traffic will be diverted via Cairneyhill Roundabout, then onto the A907 and Carnegie Drive. From there, it will continue through Bothwell Gardens Roundabout to the A823, then onto Queensferry Road.

The route will proceed to Pitreavie Roundabout and finally onto the B980. This diversion will add approximately 1.5 miles and 14 minutes to affected journeys.

Following the completion of these works, the project will shift its focus to the High Valleyfield road from Monday, November 4 until Wednesday, November 20, excluding Saturdays and Sundays, between the working hours of 7.30pm to 6.30am.

Resurfacing will occur during the first ten of these nights (Monday 4 – Friday 15) while the concluding three nights (Monday 18 – Wednesday 20) will be for bridge joint replacement works.

Another road closure, with diversion, during these stated times will be necessary, between Longannet Roundabout and Cairneyhill Roundabout.

Traffic will be diverted via A977, Kilbagie Roundabout, Gartarry Roundabout, A907, and A944. This diversion will add approximately 9.8 miles and 19 minutes to affected journeys.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland's South-East Network Manager said: "These surfacing improvements will address and repair defects in the road surface such as potholes and cracking, creating safer and smoother journeys for motorists.

"It is essential for the safety of the workforce that we close the carriageway during these works, however, we've scheduled this during overnight hours to minimise any disruption.

"We thank motorists in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements."

Consultations have been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times and local access for residents within the closure points will be maintained when it is safe to pass through the work area.

All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
