The £26m Grade A office at Dundee Waterfront, delivered by Robertson for Dundee City Council as part of the city's £1.6bn regeneration programme, has reached full occupation after global software firm N-able joined existing tenant Thorntons.

Built by Robertson Construction Tayside, the six-storey James Thomson House sits directly opposite the V&A and forms a key element of Dundee's flagship waterfront programme.

Full occupancy follows the arrival of N-able, the global software company specialising in IT management and cybersecurity solutions. The firm joins Dundee-founded law practice Thorntons as a principal occupier, with the lower level initially accommodating 150 N-able staff.

Thorntons became the first tenant, taking three floors. N-able has now taken the remaining space, establishing a significant presence within the district.

Named after a local architect, the building offers modern workspaces, high-quality meeting rooms, collaboration and event areas, and cutting-edge digital infrastructure. It meets leading sustainability targets with BREEAM Excellent and EPC A ratings and includes facilities that promote active travel.

At street level, there are two commercial units and enhanced pedestrian links connecting the city centre, the waterfront and surrounding public realm. Parking provision and EV charging points are also included.

External landscaping ties the development into the wider regeneration zone, while its fully glazed architecture complements neighbouring Agnes Husband House, delivered by Robertson for Dundee City Council in 2019 and now home to Social Security Scotland.

Construction generated strong local benefits: 82% of spend occurred within 40 miles of the site and 96% went to SMEs. Ten new jobs were created, including five apprentices, with 520 apprenticeship weeks delivered on site supporting 23 individuals to gain valuable skills and experience.

Part-funded through the Scottish Government's Growth Accelerator model, the design-and-build contract was awarded to Robertson Construction Tayside by Dundee City Council via the Procurement Hub – Major Projects Framework 2 (MPF2). The project completed in winter 2025.
