A major new housing development is underway in Stirling, bringing hundreds of new homes, jobs, and investment to the area.
MP for Stirling and Strathallan, Chris Kane, recently visited the South Stirling Gateway development to see the progress being made. The project, being developed by Persimmon Homes, is located between Bannockburn and the Pirnhall M9 junction.
The development will deliver over 750 new homes, including a mix of two-, three-, and four-bedroom properties suitable for first-time buyers, growing families, and downsizers. 188 of the homes will be transferred to a housing association to help local people in housing need.
In addition to the new homes, the development will also include a brand-new primary school, major road upgrades, and over £500,000 in funding for local healthcare facilities. New play parks and open public spaces will be key features of the development.
It is estimated that the project will create around 200 jobs in the construction sector, with a further 150 jobs in services and other local businesses.
Chris Kane MP said: "This is a significant development, which will make a real impact in terms of new and affordable housing, as well as infrastructure development.
"It is great to see the site taking shape, as well as to hear about Persimmon's continued commitment to employment and training opportunities, which I know will be welcomed locally."
Neil Parry, Persimmon East Scotland Managing Director, said: "South Stirling Gateway is a major growth opportunity for the area and it was great to have Chris on site to see the progress that's being made in creating a successful and sustainable new community.
"As well as creating more affordable routes to home ownership for local families, our investment will generate a number of other community benefits – from a new primary school to road upgrades and new active travel routes. We're delighted that work is now well underway and looking forward to seeing the development deliver real benefits for the local community."
