West Dunbartonshire Council regeneration project, Rediscovering the Antonine Wall has been named winner in the People category at the Scottish Planning Innovation Awards (SPIA).
The project is being led by the Council in partnership with Historic Environment Scotland and the other authority areas the wall runs through.
The People Award celebrates projects which work with all age groups and display excellence in leadership or achievement.
It is the latest award won by the Rediscovering the Antonine Wall project having last experienced success at the Scottish Thistle Awards in December 2023, taking home the Celebrating Thriving Communities honour.
Councillor Lawrence O'Neill, Convener of Planning, said: "Congratulations to the Rediscovering the Antonine Wall project team for all their hard work in developing this heritage site. The site is a key part of our history and it is important that we maintain and protect the site for future generations.
"This latest award is testament to the team's determination that they have been recognised at yet another awards ceremony, a well deserved achievement."
Councillor Gurpreet Singh Johal, Vice Convener of Planning, added: "It's great news to hear that the Antonine Wall has secured yet another award. It is a fantastic site, so rich in history and right on our doorstep. The team have worked hard to preserve the area and we are fortunate to have a World Heritage site where we can learn all about the important part the Romans play in our past and present."
West Dunbartonshire Council joined forces with Historic Environment Scotland and the other Council areas the wall passes through - Glasgow, East Dunbartonshire, North Lanarkshire and Falkirk – to bring the Wall's fascinating story back to life with the Rediscovering project in 2018.
Since then, a number of attractions have been installed along the Wall's route including a stone bench and sculpture at Lusset Glen in Old Kilpatrick to mark where the Antonine Wall passed through West Dunbartonshire. In Goldenhill Park, Duntocher, an earlier fortlet has been located and excavated.
