Transport Scotland has announced that BEAR Scotland has been appointed for a programme of essential repair works on the westbound carriageway of the M8 between Junctions 3 and 3A.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland's South East Network Manager, said: "These repairs will significantly improve safety for motorists using this section of the M8.
"A carriageway closure is essential to ensure the safety of workers and road users, however we've planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption and will do all we can to complete the work as quickly as possible."
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website www.traffic.gov.scot for up-to-date information and allowing extra time for their journey.
Consultation has been carried out with relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
For the safety of workers and road users during these works, the M8 westbound will be closed between Junctions 3 and 3A from 20:30 until 06:00.
During this closure, a signed diversion route will be in place via the A899, A89 and A779, adding an estimated seven minutes and one mile to affected journeys.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
