CCG Completes Fire Safety Enhancement Works In East Kilbride

Construction News Image
The CCG Group has announced the successful completion of the installation of enhanced fire safety features in East Kilbride on behalf of South Lanarkshire Council.

The Glasgow-based construction and manufacturing business has supplied and installed enhanced fire door sets at Dury's Lane, Old Vic and Sadler's Well; three of six high-rise residential flatted blocks to have received such measures over the last year as part of a multi-phase programme for South Lanarkshire Council.

Fully certified and rated, the doors, installed to each flat and within common areas of the apartment blocks, are manufactured using engineered timber and are designed to withstand fire for an hour's duration.

Timber acts as a natural fire break whilst intumescent seals within the door frame also help prevent the passage of smoke and harmful gases.

Automatic closing systems also make sure the doors always close, meaning that at the time of an emergency, tenants and emergency service personnel are given safe passage within the building.

CCG manufactured the 835 door sets for the latest phase of works from their bespoke premises in Cambuslang to support this latest phase of delivery and were also responsible for the installation thanks to their in-house planned maintenance division, 'Asset Management'.

CCG Asset Management Manager, Jim Cunningham, said: "We are delighted to have completed this latest phase of works on behalf of South Lanarkshire Council. Our multi-phase programme has been a very positive one for all involved and a lot of that is down to the single chain of responsibility that CCG offers: from timber to home, we assume full control of the process which ensures quality, efficiency and, value as well improved customer service for clients and tenants."

CCG has since moved on to the final phase of the workstream with 300 residences at Fraser, Dunlop and Lister Towers, located just south of the town centre.

The final phase will be completed in 2024 which means over 600 residences in East Kilbride and Cambuslang will have received upgraded fire safety and security measures within a period of just 18 months.

The fire door replacement planned maintenance workstream was procured via the Scottish Procurement Alliance (SPA) C8 Framework.
