The Highland Council has announced a programme of ground investigation works at the Corran Narrows on Loch Linnhe waters to establish conditions.

The results of these works will be used to inform the detailed design of the infrastructure requirements for roll on/roll off vessels to serve the route.

The Highland Council has awarded a contract to Causeway Geotech Ltd of Ballymoney, County Antrim, to carry out the ground investigation which involves bore holes, trial pits, provide samples and testing of the underlying materials to establish full details of the existing ground conditions.

The information is vital to the detailed design work that is currently being progressed by Wallace Stone, who are assisting the Council’s Project Design Unit in providing detailed design, marine and civil engineering and supporting services.

The ground investigation works are being carried out for 8 weeks with works programmed to commence on 16 October 2023.
