Leiths (Scotland) Adds Renault Trucks Tippers

Construction News Image
Leiths (Scotland) Ltd has added two new C430 8x4 tippers to its Inverness-based subsidiary, A Ross & Sons, opting for Renault Trucks owing to the manufacturer's comprehensive dealer network coverage, the vehicle specification and proven reliability.

Supplied by Renault Trucks Scotland, the C430s, fitted with Aliweld insulated tipper bodies, are additions to the A Ross & Sons mixed tipper fleet. Based out of the company’s Midlairgs Quarry, near Inverness, the vehicles deliver sand, aggregates and asphalt to customers across the North West Highlands from Fort William to Kishorn, Dufftown to the Isle of Skye and all points between.

Bob Adamson Fleet Manager at Leiths (Scotland) Ltd said: "Our varied and widespread operation is very busy, with much work currently generated from the renewables and infrastructure sectors. We need reliable vehicles, with first class back up service and driver appeal. We found the Renault Trucks C is well specified, comfortable, the cab design gives us ample space to advertise our business and the engine, chassis and running gear are all proven technology which gives great reliability and overall peace of mind."

Finished in A Ross & Sons' distinctive Velvet grey and orange livery, the C430s are powered by Renault Trucks’ 11 litre engine producing 323 kW and 2050 Nm torque. The powertrain uses the Optidriver ATO 2612 gearbox driving PMR 23150 single reduction rear axles, with a 23 tonne (technical max) rear loading capacity. Lightweight aluminium air tanks and Alcoa brushed matt aluminium wheels optimise payload.

Inside, the C430 day cabs feature heated and ventilated “comfort” driver’s seat, air conditioning and “ultimate” leather steering wheel with cruise and telephone control for a comfortable driving experience.

The new tippers join 18 other Renault Trucks HGVs in the Group, including insulated tippers, concrete mixers, a 44t drawbar tipper, a hooklift, a road marking truck and tractor units, as well as ten 3.5t Renault Trucks Master dropsides within Leiths’ Markon Traffic Management division.

Nine further Renault Trucks vehicles are on order including a Renault Trucks C and five Renault Trucks D road marking trucks, an additional D curtainsider, and two C430 8x4 tippers for 2024 that are compliant with the updated General Safety Regulations (GSR).
