SSE Renewables and the Coire Glas project has help Kilchuimen Academy in Fort Augustus buy new strips and jackets with a donation of £1,500.
The donation is part of SSE Renewables commitment to supporting a diverse range of community projects in the Scottish Highlands.
Coire Glas is a hydro pumped storage scheme with a potential to provide 30GWhrs, which is enough storage to power over three million homes for 24 hours. Located at Loch Lochy, it will be the first large scale pumped storage project to be developed in the UK for more than 40 years.
Rebecca Mason, PE teacher at Kilchuimen Academy and Dyw School Co-Ordinator, said: "We are so thankful to SSE Renewables for their sponsorship of our new shinty strips and jackets. Your generous sponsorship has made a tremendous impact on our team. The new sports kit will allow us to be able to compete with more confidence at future games and hopefully allow us to expand our squad. The pupils are ecstatic about their new strips and can't wait to wear them at their first game of the season next school year."
Jade O'Hara, Stakeholder Engagement Manager for Coire Glas, said: "It has been great to be able to support Kilchuimen Academy with this donation. We're passionate about giving back to communities in the region of where the proposed Coire Glas site will be. We look forward to building on this relationship with the school and have already planned educational talks in the new academic year to help enrich pupils learning about renewable energy."
