Fife Council has identified the cause of persistent flooding near Iron Bridge in Leven.
The council's roads maintenance service department has been investigating the cause of flooding at the entrances to the wastewater treatment plant and the timber works on Elm Park.
Engineers have discovered that the existing drainage system is damaged beyond repair. Surveys are continuing at the site to establish a plan for works to complete replaced to damaged infrastructure, which the council aims to launch as quickly as possible.
Bill Liddle, roads maintenance service manager, said: "There will be some disruption to traffic as the work progresses and we’ll provide updates once we know how the road will be affected.
"In the meantime we'll increase our checks on this particular area during rainfall to ensure there is a speedier response to any flooding issues."
