Fife Council has announced the first Dunfermline City Conference at Glen Pavilion on 27th June 2023, bringing together over 300 community partners.

The conference has been described as "a unique opportunity for community partners to come together and contribute to a clear and strong vision for the future of the City of Dunfermline".

This will be the first time, since Dunfermline was granted City status in May 2022, that members of business, sport, development and the wider community will have a forum to share and discuss their projects and ideas moving forward.

The aim of the event will be to discuss the contributions of all the partners in the Dunfermline area and combine these into a clear economic and community vision.

A combination of speakers, workshops and video blogs will highlight what has been successful so far, but also what could be done to make improvements going forward.

Councillor James Calder, Convenor, City of Dunfermline Area Committee said: "As the ancient capital and now 8th city of Scotland, Dunfermline is a city of rich heritage and history.

"By spearheading the first ever Dunfermline City Conference, we want to focus on what the future looks like for Dunfermline and collaborate with all our partners on how we can set out a strong future vision.

"We intend for this first conference to define a clear path for all our stakeholders to work together to ensure Dunfermline is a thriving, inclusive city that provides opportunities for all moving forwards."

Councillor Altany Craik, Spokesperson for Finance, Economy and Strategic Planning said: "Dunfermline is one of the fastest growing cities in the UK and we are fortunate to have a vast range of stakeholders that we hope will grow with the city.

"From affordable housing developments to business and manufacturing to the new £180m Dunfermline Learning Campus opening next year, there are plenty of projects and investment happening across the city at the moment.

"The Dunfermline City Conference will allow all our community partners from various sectors to come together and discuss how we can build on the growth that is already happening in Dunfermline."

The event will also explore Dunfermline's membership of the Scottish Cities Alliance and the city's progress towards SMART city projects and technological development.
