Renewable energy developer, SSE Renewables, has appointed its current Director of Engineering for Onshore Wind, John Downes as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO).

The new role of CIO for the developer has been created so that all digital and IT work happening across SSE Renewables can have even more consistency and alignment than at present.

John will have oversight of the delivery of the end-to-end technology and data and information services required as SSE Renewables continues to grow the number of renewable energy projects it is developing both in the UK and internationally.

Speaking about his appointment he said: "I’m excited to be starting this new chapter within SSE Renewables. Through my role as Director of Engineering for Onshore Wind, I’m fully aware of the company’s ambitious targets to increase our renewable energy output in the decade ahead.
