McGill Awarded All-Trade Contracts With Falkirk Council

Falkirk Council has awarded McGill a second contract to provide all-trades repairs to approximately 500 void properties.

McGill were recently appointed to the contract, which is valued at approximately £2.6 million, and mobilised resources quickly, beginning work within two weeks. The refurbishment and fit-out contractor will work closely with Falkirk Council, providing a multi-trades service, including plumbing, electrical, plastering, joinery, flooring, and tiling, with the possible addition of bricklaying and roofing works.

In the last year, McGill has significantly expanded operations and now has a centre of operations in North Lanarkshire, making it one of the strongest main contractors operating across Scotland right now, and the ideal choice for Falkirk Council to partner with.

The main contractor is one of Scotland's foremost decarbonisation specialists, and is working to ensure that Falkirk Council's void properties are currently EESSH2 compliant, as well as future-proofing against any additional compliance requirements. A Scottish government policy, EESSH2 requires that all social housing meets, or can be treated as meeting, EPC Band B (Energy Efficiency rating), or is as energy efficient as practically possible, by the end of December 2032 and within the limits of cost, technology and necessary consent.

In carrying out the works, McGill's multi-trade teams are championing the company's commitment to decarbonisation, with a robust site waste management plan and sector-leading training on environmental and sustainability policies, in close alignment with Falkirk Council's manifesto.

McGill has become the go-to main contractor for housing associations and other public sector bodies across the country, and currently serves close to 20,000 social housing homes in Scotland.

McGill Chief Executive Officer, Errol Lawrie commented: "Falkirk Council came to us as a new customer just six months ago, and have now awarded us this second void repairs contract. That tells me that we're delivering a first-class service in the public sector, and that our all-trades offering and commitment to decarbonisation makes us the stand-out contractor in the sector. We're delighted to see this work coming along so well, and look forward to working with Falkirk Council for years to come."
