Transport Scotland has announced an investment of £200,000 in resurfacing works for a section of the westbound M8, to be carried out by their operating company BEAR Scotland.

For the safety of workers and road users during these works, M8 Junction 4A to Junction 5 westbound will be closed from 20:30 until 06:00 on the nights of Tuesday 1, Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 March.

A diversion route for westbound traffic will be signposted from Junction 4A to Junction 5 via the B7066 and B7057, adding an estimated 2 minutes and 0.4 miles to affected journeys. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland's South East Network Manager, said: "These surfacing improvements will improve safety and ride quality for motorists using this section of the M8.

"Road closures are essential for safety, however we've planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption."
