North Lanarkshire Council has called on community and voluntary groups across the region to bid for funding for local regeneration projects.

The council has said that they want to hear from groups with ideas for community-led projects to tackle deprivation and disadvantage among residents.

The council will then work with groups to apply to the Scottish Government's Regeneration Capital Grant Fund (RCGF) which supports place-based regeneration projects.

Councillor Allan Graham, Convener of the Enterprise and Growth Committee, said: "The RCGF offers opportunities for local communities to take forward ideas to improve their area for the benefit of residents.

"Last year we secured £1.7million for a new community music and learning hub in Motherwell and £790,000 for a new community hub in Shotts, and we have previously received funding for community centres in Forgewood and Glenboig."

The next round of RCGF applications is expected to open in April.
