"I am really looking forward to meeting our local roads teams - helping them on their journey to deliver great roads projects and services. I am also eager to work with the wider Mott MacDonald team, where I hope to explore technological opportunities to bring benefits to Scotland's roads users."

John D'Arcy, Mott MacDonald's UK managing director for highways, said: "Mark is passionate about the future of roads and the opportunities for digital transformation and maximising the social value returns on road sector investment. Mark's extensive experience and his understanding of the challenges faced from all perspectives will enable our teams to optimise sustainable solutions for clients, partners and stakeholders. Mark will combine his deep understanding of the needs of Scotland's road users with his leading experience of roads project delivery and asset management. Mark's leadership will continue to make a valuable contribution to the roads sector in Scotland, drawing upon and developing excellence across Mott MacDonald."
