Milngavie Bloom Clean-Up Complete As Part Of Major Water Improvement Works

Construction News Image
Caledonia Water Alliance (CWA) employees working on a multi-million pound Scottish Water project to improve services to more than 54,000 people have helped Milngavie in Bloom by tidying the riverbank and clearing litter on a stretch of the Allander Water in the town.

CWA staff are working on the Burncrooks project, which involves the installation of eight miles of new water main, spent a day cutting overgrown trees and bushes and litter-picking near part of the river at the Tesco supermarket in Milngavie.

The clearing work was timed to help Milngavie in Bloom ahead of a visit by judges from Beautiful Scotland. Milngavie in Bloom is one of 38 community entries to the awards from across Scotland.

Sean Lavin, construction manager on the Scottish Water project, said: "We were delighted to be able to help clear the banks of the river on this part of the Allander Water in Milngavie close to our project.

"The area had become quite overgrown, and there was some litter, and members of the project team were happy to help improve the appearance and tidiness of the area to help Milngavie in Bloom get the town looking its best.

"The improvement work on the banks of the river is an example of Scottish Water’s involvement in activities that go beyond supplying water and managing waste water and strengthen our relationship with our customers and communities."
