Dundee City Councillors are to consider plans to build a £746,000 electric vehicle charging facility at Queen Street, Broughty Ferry.

The tender to build a new hub will be considered by the Council's city development committee today, Monday 10 September.

Lynne Short committee convener said: "The contract includes electrical infrastructure, a substation, solar canopies, surfacing and other works to create another part of our ever expanding charging network.

"Our most recent charging array at Princes Street opened in July and has been popular with private and business users from day one.

"The money for this has come from grants from Transport Scotland and the UK Government's Office of Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) and who clearly recognise the good work that has already gone on in the city to encourage and support EV use."

Specialist contractor SWARCO is recommended for the work, which is expected to start later this month and be completed by the end of the year.
