Scottish Water To Help Improve Sewer Flooding Protection In Annan

Construction News Image
Investigation work is to get underway to help improve sewer flooding protection in parts of Annan.

Beginning on Monday 03 September, Scottish Water's alliance partner amey Black and Veatch (aBV) will carry out the work.

It comes after a number of properties and gardens were flooded. Scottish Water will be digging trial trenches and boreholes in various locations around the Newington park area.

Rose Street will be closed from just before the junction of Drummond Road to the junction with Newington Avenue and Charles Street. Newington Avenue will also be closed at this junction, and Charles Street will be closed from the junction with Rose Street for approximately 40 metres.

Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the work, which is expected to last around three weeks.

Scott Fraser, Scottish Water's Regional Corporate Affairs Manager, said: "Scottish Water is committed to reducing the risk of sewer flooding in Annan. The investigative work is a normal part of the process before we start major infrastructure improvement projects.

"We appreciate these works are disruptive to local residents and would like to thank them for their patience over the coming weeks.

"Once the investigation is complete we will be able to make a decision about the final design of these works which we will share with the community."
