Judging is underway for the Scottish Borders' Building Design Awards.

Examiners are visiting the 26 entries this week for a thorough assessment.

The entries are separated into four different categories: residential new builds, commercial new builds, works to existing buildings, and buildings that contribute to their setting.

The three judges are Hugo Burge of Marchmont House, David Suttie of the Royal Town Planning Institute and Stuart Henderson from the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland.

Councillor Tom Miers, Executive Member for Planning and Environment said: "There are some very high quality and exciting entries this year that will showcase good design in the Borders. I can't wait to see what the verdict of the judges is."

The awards intend to promote good building design in the Borders and to strengthen links between builders, architects, Council planners and other professionals in the industry.

The winners will be announced in autumn 2018 in an awards ceremony at Marchmont House, Greenlaw.

Each winner will be presented with a certificate and cast aluminium plaque.
