More than £5 million is to be invested by the Scottish Government towards developing more 'affordable' housing in Clackmannanshire.

A total of £5.074m has been confirmed to be invested in housing for the region over the year ahead. Combined with funding from the Council’s Capital budget of £1.2m, the local authority said it will be working in partnership with Kingdom Housing and other registered social landlords to deliver new social housing across Clackmannanshire.

Last year, over £5m was invested which resulted in 76 new builds and 11 properties bought on the open market.

Cllr Craig Holden said: "I am delighted that the Scottish Government is continuing to make significant investment in Clackmannanshire to help us deliver new high quality affordable housing for local residents.

"The benefits to our residents of living in good quality and secure houses cannot be over-estimated as we work towards improving the lives of everyone in Clackmannanshire through our Local Outcome Improvement Plan, and reducing the numbers of those experiencing the greatest disadvantage and inequality. Our plans for new housing are spread across Clackmannanshire so that all our communities experience these benefits, and I look forward to seeing the new houses taking shape over the coming months."
