Renfrewshire Council has unveiled an artist's impression of how its new 95-home development at Johnstone Castle will look once completed.

Demolition work is already underway on the £13 million scheme which will clear space at the site for the new energy-efficient homes to be built. ENGIE Regeneration is expected to start work on the new housing soon, with the first completions set for next spring.

Once finished, the project will feature a mix of mainly two- and three-bedroom homes and own-door flats, as well as two specially designed bungalows for tenants with mobility requirements. In addition, four semi-detached homes will with four bedrooms will be developed for larger families.

The construction costs of almost £13m will be funded from the Council's housing investment programme and a Scottish Government grant.

Cllr Marie McGurk said: "We are committed to providing social housing which is affordable, energy efficient and meets the needs of local people.

"The homes will be ones which are fit for the 21st century and will improve the quality of life for residents."
