Work is to start on a £41,000 gas supply upgrade project in Kingsway, East Kilbride.
The four-week scheme is being delivered by SGN and involves replacing old gas mains and services with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply to the local area. Work will take place on a section of Kingsway (A749) north of Whirlies Roundabout, beginning just after Whirlies roundabout and progressing northward along the A749.
The project will get underway on Monday, 07 May.
SGN Engineering Manager Alistair Allan said: "We've worked closely with the local authority in planning this work and we will be doing everything we can to limit disruption during our essential project.
"We appreciate that roadworks can be frustrating, however, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means once the work has been completed, East Kilbride homes and businesses will enjoy the benefits of a continued safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come."
