Professional services firm JLL have started carrying out housing survey work at around 200 properties on behalf of Dalkeith-based Melville Housing Association.

Melville said the work has begun this week and will last "for the next fortnight or so".

"The surveyors, who will be visiting roughly 200 properties across all areas in which we operate, will need access to homes to carry out the work," the Association said.

"They will have a letter from us and all surveyors will carry identification. Please contact us if you have any doubts about anyone claiming to work for Melville who wants access to your home.

"This work is important but disruption should be minimal. We would ask any tenant who is approached to allow access to their home for the short time the survey will take."
