Work is to start later this month on a water infrastructure upgrade project near Kirkland in Dumfries and Galloway.

Scottish Water will begin replacing and installing new pipe bridges and 190-metres of overland pipe by the River Leven and south of the Dam Wood on 29 January.

Scott Fraser, Scottish Water's corporate affairs regional manager, said: "The work should have minimum impact on customers as it's is taking place in a rural area, however, we may need to remove and replace trees and divert dog walking trails near to the worksite.

"We'd like to thank the local community in advance for their patience and understanding whilst this essential work is carried out."
