Up to 150 new 'affordable' homes are to be built in Dumbarton.

Marshall Construction has been appointed to deliver the £15 million scheme on the site of the former Ballantine's Whisky Distillery.

Preparatory works are now underway with construction scheduled to begin towards the end of this month. The first homes are scheduled for completion by March 2019.

The development was made possible through partnership between the Scottish Government, West Dunbartonshire Council, Dunbritton Housing Association, Cullross and the Bank of Scotland.

Ryan Fletcher, Managing Director of Cullross, said: "This is a large and exciting project for everyone involved. The works to upgrade the Quay Walls have begun and the site has been pegged out ready for earthworks to start in January. We look forward to delivering these much needed affordable homes over the coming months ahead."
