A £250,000 water mains upgrade scheme is to begin in Carluke, Lanarkshire.

Contractor Clancy Docwra will start carrying out essential improvements to the water network in the Luggie Road area from 23 October.

The five-week scheme, which involves repairing and replacing sections of water mains, will require temporary traffic lights and restricted parking/access.

Ruaridh MacGregor from Scottish Water said: "This essential work is taking place over the next five weeks in the Luggie Road area to help ensure customers can continue to enjoy clean, fresh drinking water long into the future.

"The traffic management is put in place in full consultation with South Lanarkshire Council.

"The temporary traffic lights will help ensure any disruption for road users is kept to an absolute minimum.

"We want to thank customers for their patience and understanding as this essential work takes place over the coming weeks."
