New £7.8m Sports Hub Opens In Bishopbriggs

The multi-million pound Huntershill facility was built by Robertson and aims to encourage sporting activity in the community.

Features include;

• New floodlit, all-weather 3G sports pitch, approved for football and contact rugby

• Sports pavilion building - including 10 changing rooms, multi-use hall, meeting room and more

• Three new floodlit, all-weather tennis courts

• A six-lane, all-weather athletics track with jump and throws areas

• Fully-resurfaced, all-weather 3G football pitch

Provost Alan Brown said: "I am delighted to officially open the new Huntershill Sports Hub, which offers state-of-the-art facilities for a range of local sports and activities.

"From football, rugby and tennis to running, dancing and keep fit - Huntershill is a fantastic attraction and a great example of what can be delivered - even during such challenging times.

"I'm pleased that the Council - working with the Trust and a range of partners - has managed to deliver such a great facility."

Ed Parry, Managing Director of main contractor Robertson Central West, said: "The official opening of Huntershill Sports Hub is a proud moment for the team at Robertson. Our team has worked extremely hard alongside the local supply chain - establishing a close relationship with East Dunbartonshire Council and engaging with the local community.

"We continue to build on that engagement programme as work progresses well at the nearby Auchinairn community facility – with both projects procured through Scape Group's National Major Works framework.

"I am sure that the Sports Hub will quickly establish itself within the local area and further afield, and that everyone will enjoy and benefit from this fine facility for many years to come."
