BEAR Scotland, working on behalf of Transport Scotland, will begin overnight resurfacing on the A87 between Invergarry and Bun Loyne from Sunday 4 October.

Crews will operate between 8pm and 6am each night, with no works taking place on Saturday or Sunday nights. Subject to favourable weather, the programme is due to finish by the morning of Tuesday 10 November.

For safety, the A87 will be closed in both directions during working hours. A signed diversion will be in place via the A82 and A887. Southbound traffic should travel east on the A887, head south on the A82 and rejoin the A87 at Invergarry. Northbound traffic should take the A82 north, then the A887 west to rejoin the A87 at Bun Loyne. The detour will add around 16.7 miles and approximately 29 minutes to journeys.

Local access to and from Tomdoun junction will be maintained via the Invergarry closure point. Outside working hours, traffic management will be lifted, though a reduced speed limit will remain as vehicles will be running on a temporary surface.

Emergency service vehicles will be permitted to pass through the site at all times during overnight operations. BEAR Scotland has consulted relevant stakeholders in advance to outline the traffic management arrangements and reduce disruption where possible.

"We understand that roadworks can be inconvenient, and we have planned these works to be carried out as efficiently as possible while maintaining the safety of our workforce and the travelling public.
