Housebuilder Cruden has finalised a contract with the landowner to buy the former Postings Shopping Centre site in Kirkcaldy, marking a major step towards delivering new affordable housing in the heart of the town.

Working alongside Kingdom Group, the company is progressing plans to bring the high-profile brownfield plot back into use. The site has remained vacant since the shopping centre was demolished in 2023.

The emerging proposals comprise 135 affordable homes, with dedicated accommodation for people aged 55 and over. A mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments will sit alongside traditionally inspired colony-style homes, creating a diverse new community in a central, well-connected location.

Cruden said the project represents a significant investment, transforming a long-derelict area into a thriving neighbourhood. By improving links to the High Street, the plans are intended to draw more people into the centre and help increase footfall for local businesses.
