Further funding has been secured to help deliver a five-year improvement plan for Inverkeithing town centre.
South & West Fife Area Committee has agreed to allocate £430,000 to enhance its bid for more than £3 million of funding from other sources such as the Historic Environment Scotland Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) and Heritage Lottery Townscape Heritage funding.
Along with £100,000 of council funds committed last year, if the bid is approved, proposals will enhance the public areas around Inverkeithing, including spaces between and within buildings that the public have access to.
In addition, the built heritage of the area will be improved and people will be encouraged to get involved and become promoters of the town and all it has to offer. Key civic buildings and assets, especially the Town House, the Friary Hospitium and Friary Gardens would receive investment to showcase their heritage and generate income to protect their future as important parts of the community.
The programme would also include a small repair grants scheme to help owners improve traditional buildings in the town centre, and deliver education & training activities such as traditional building skills.
Councillor Alice McGarry, Committee Convener, said: "This funding is another step forward in implementing this heritage–led regeneration project. As well as enabling more improvements to the townscape, it will help attract additional money from external sources so that we can bring the whole vision to life."
