Contractor Lanes for Drains is to start work on a sewer relining project in Inverness.
The three-week scheme on Fraser Street will get underway on 18 September.
Features include using specialised technology to enable the existing pipe beneath Fraser Street to be renewed from the inside with a resin lining.
Scottish Water said this approach means that costly and disruptive excavation of the road can be avoided, with access to the sewer being taken via the existing manholes.
To carry out the work safely, the street will be closed each night during the project from 7.30pm until 7am.
Scottish Water's Project Manager Hugh Macpherson said: "In recent months, we have been engaging with businesses and other local stakeholders to identify the best way to complete this essential work while keeping disruption to a minimum.
"In this case, the opportunity to re-line the existing sewer instead of digging up the road also means that our contractor can carry out work at night and re-open the street each day. We have also planned for the work to start in late September to avoid the most important times for nearby businesses."
