Significant progress has been made on the development of a new £32million high school in West Lothian.
Morrison Construction is progressing well with the building work at West Calder High School. The development is expected to be completed in one year.
The steel frame of the building and installation of concrete floor slabs are now finished and work on the roof cladding is progressing well. All of the roof lights have also been installed.
Allan Cunningham, Operations Director at Morrison Construction said: "Today is about celebrating an exciting construction milestone and the work that has been completed so far.
"The progress on site is exciting to see and we are proud to be delivering this facility for the pupils, teachers and wider community of West Calder."
The new 1,100 capacity West Calder High School has been specifically designed with pupil experience at the core, and will include a swimming pool, floodlit 3G sports pitch, and sports facilities for school and community use.
Councillor Dodds said: "The new West Calder High School will give a real boost to learning when it opens in a year's time, and I'm delighted to see the good progress being made.
"Providing the best possible environment for education can make a real difference to our young people, and the new West Calder High School's innovative design will help pupils to achieve their full potential.
"West Lothian already has one of the best school estates in the country, and we are investing over £100 million in education infrastructure projects to provide the right platform for learning for our young people."
The project for the new school is being delivered for West Lothian Council through Hub South East Scotland, with Morrison Construction appointed to build the new school. Funding for the development is being provided by West Lothian Council and the Scottish Futures Trust's Schools for the Future programme.
