CCG is to begin building a new £2.6 million nursery in Greenock, Inverclyde.

Financial close has been reached on the project and work will start on part of the old Greenock Academy site this month.

The new 100-pupil facility has been designed so the three nursery playrooms will all look-out over the River Clyde.

The scheme, which forms the latest development of a £270m council programme that will see every child in a new or refurbished school by 2020, is being delivered in partnership with hub West Scotland.


The design team consists of Architects Holmes Miller, Civil & Structural Engineers Struer, M&E Engineers Baker Hicks, QS Brown & Wallace and main contractor CCG.

The organisation's Chief Executive Officer, Ian Marley, said: "The Design Team have been very proactive during the development phase and are to be congratulated for their efforts in reaching this important milestone.

Cllr Jim Clocherty said: "A lot of hard work and planning over many months has led to this point but I am delighted that formalities are now complete and work will soon begin. This is another milestone moment in this important project and I would like to thank everyone involved for getting us to this stage."
