Scotland TranServ is to start work on a £160,000 road surface improvement project in South Lanarkshire.

The company is carrying out a programme to repair potholes and superficial cracks on the main westbound carriageway between the Douglas Street off and on slip roads.

Work is taking place each night from today, 24 April until Friday, 27 April. Due to the depth and width of the repair work, it is necessary to close the westbound dual carriageway towards East Kilbride to complete the scheme. Diversions will be in place.

Brendan O'Sullivan, Scotland TranServ's Area Network Manager said: "We realise that this is an essential economic artery connecting some of South Lanarkshire's largest communities with routes both north and south, as well as across the central belt. That's why we're working through the night to help keep the A725 moving at peak periods.”

Andy Fraser, Scotland TranServ's Operating Company Representative added: "Across South West Scotland, we're working on behalf of Transport Scotland to prioritise such road maintenance issues and deliver a programme of improvements as quickly, efficiently and safely as possible."
