New figures have revealed average UK house prices in January have risen by over 6% compared to last year.
The latest UK House Price Index states prices have increased by 6.2%, taking the value of an average UK homes to £218,255.
In England, data shows an annual rise of 6.5% with an average property value of £234,794. Monthly house prices have risen by 0.7% since December 2016.
The East of England experienced the greatest rise in average property price over the last 12 months, with an increase of 9.4%. London saw the greatest monthly price growth with an increase of 3%.
Elsewhere, Northern Ireland experienced a 5.7% annual rise in prices (£125,480), while Wales saw a 4.2% increase (£145,933).
In Scotland, annual prices rose by 4% to £142,233, with monthly prices increasing by 2.1% compared to December 2016.
The largest annual increase occurred on the Shetland Islands, with prices rising 21.9% from £149,494 to £182,184 in the space of a year. However, prices fell by over 10% in Aberdeen, from £181,773 last year to £163,176.
