Scottish Galvanizers Helps Deliver £200m Golf Resort Redevelopment

Construction News Image
Scottish Galvanizers has helped deliver a £200 million golf resort redevelopment project in Ayrshire.

The Glasgow-firm, part of Wedge Group Galvanizing, provided its services for the Turnberry Resort scheme, which was commissioned by American president-elect Donald Trump.

Staff at Scottish Galvanizers were asked to galvanize the replacement railings, made by Morrell's Forge Blacksmiths, for the world-famous resort.

The popular golf and holiday destination includes the Turnberry Lighthouse, which has been turned into two executive suites costing up to £7,000 per night.

Morrell's Forge, a small family-run blacksmith near to Turnberry, made around 200 metres of new railings and balustrades for the site and asked the team at Scottish Galvanizers to hot dip galvanize the materials before they were painted and put up at the Lighthouse.

The plant's Commercial Manager Paul Tait said: "It's not often you get asked to be involved in a project financed by such a high-profile figure currently getting so much media attention in the run up to the American election.  It was great to be part of the redevelopment and the Lighthouse looks amazing now."

Tony Morrell from Morrell's Forge at Turnberry added: "We are very grateful to all of the staff at Scottish Galvanizers. This contract was far bigger than anything we have previously done and an enormous undertaking for a small firm such as ours. We could not have completed it without the prompt and high quality service we received from them."

Wedge Group Galvanizing is the largest hot-dip galvanizing organisation in the UK with a history dating back over 150 years. With 14 plants strategically placed across the country, the firm offers a truly national galvanizing service.
