Scotland TranServ has started the second phase of a £700,000 motorway barrier improvement project.
The company is refurbishing the central reserve barrier of the M8 at Charing Cross.
Work will take place between Junctions 17 and 19 of the motorway at Mitchell Library. The scheme is expected to last for eight weeks.
In order to carry out the project safely, temporary traffic management and diversions will be in place.
Overnight traffic management will be implemented from 10pm on 08 January until 6am on 03 March. A full closure of the westbound carriageway and an eastbound offside lane closure will be in place from 10pm – 6am for the next three weeks, while the eastbound carriageway will then be closed with a westbound offside lane closure between 10pm - 6am for the following five weeks.
Scotland TranServ's operating company representative, Andy Fraser said: "This vital programme of works will ensure that the central reserve barrier is safe and fit for purpose.
"We have programmed the works carefully overnight when traffic flows are expected to be lighter however road users should follow the signed diversion route during the works."
