CCG To Begin Building Two Housing Developments In Perth

Construction News Image
CCG is to begin building two new housing developments in Perth.

The contractor will start developing 10 one-bedroomed flats and cottages at Nimmo Avenue, while a further eight one-bedroomed cottage flats will be built on a former garage site on Cairns Crescent. The projects are due to be completed in spring 2017.

Each scheme will be delivered using Off-Site' methods of construction, utilising a closed panel timber system that is designed and manufactured by CCG Off-Site Manufacturing (OSM). The closed panel will be delivered to site with pre-installed insulation, windows, entrance doors, internal doors – manufactured by CCG – and service zones.

Calum Murray, Director of CCG (Scotland), said: "It is great to see these new projects get underway in Perth. Every year we're continuing to expand the geographical spread of our business and this project is particularly exciting as we look to widen the scope of our residential developments north of the central belt.

"As mentioned, the use of our timber frame system will ensure that the future occupants will benefit from enhanced energy savings, whilst fewer vehicle movements and a quicker build programme, due to the level of work completed off site, will reduce the impact of the projects on the local communities."

Cllr Dave Doogan added: "These new build projects are part of the Council's affordable house building programme which has already delivered around 200 new Council homes in the last three years. New properties have been constructed in towns and settlements right across the region, including Methven, Scone, Alyth, Inchture, Blairgowrie, Auchterarder, Balbeggie, Rattray and Perth, and many more are in the pipeline."

The Scottish Procurement Alliance (SPA) NH1 Framework was utilised for each of the projects, which offers a full turnkey solution for off-site construction of new homes that includes construction, design, manufacture, supply and installation of volumetric and panelised building systems.
