Energy company Premier Oil has discovered a "significant" amount of oil on the Outer Moray Firth in the North Sea.
As part of the Bagpuss drilling operation, the company said it has found what it believes to be "heavy oil" on the Halibut Horst.
It added well 13/25-1 has now been plugged and abandoned pending further analysis.
Robin Allan, Premier Oil's Director of Exploration and North Sea, said: "The Bagpuss well has proven a significant volume of oil in place. We will now work with our partners to carry out a full analysis of the hydrocarbons and reservoir encountered to ascertain whether commerciality can be established."
