Glasgow City Council has praised a £27.4 million regeneration project in the west of the city.

The development was built by McTaggart Construction for Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) in Kingsway Gardens, Scotstoun.

Features of the scheme include 116 new homes, extensive upgrades to tower blocks at Kingsway Court and public realm improvements.

GHA invested £16m to upgrade four remaining blocks at 30, 40, 50 and 60 Kingsway Court, including installing overcladding and glass balconies.

Features included new kitchens, windows, doors, bathrooms and central heating. In addition, foyers and landings were also upgraded.

As part of its contract, McTaggart provided training and employment opportunities for local people.

Further environmental improvements are planned on the site, including building a new perimeter wall and replacing fencing.

Cllr George Redmond said: "It is no exaggeration to say that a new flat or house can change people’s lives.

"The new homes at Kingsway Court are a great example of the impact quality housing can make on individuals, families and the local community. 

"I am delighted to launch these new homes, a fantastic addition to the many being built across Glasgow this year."
