The Scottish Government is to launch a new online building warrant application method in August.
The new eBuildingstandards.scot portal will go online from Wednesday, 24 August and is designed to simplify the method in which applications are made.
It will allow people to apply online for warrants and other related forms, such as completion certificates. For complex developments, multiple site users will be able to work together in producing a single application.
East Ayrshire Councillor Jim Roberts said the new portal will allow online applications to be "simple, save time and money".
"We welcome the launch of the new portal. Anyone who has ever dealt with a planning or building warrant application knows how frustrating and time consuming the process can be," he said.
"We're already seeing the benefits of using a portal for planning applications through our ePlanning.scot portal which was introduced in January 2016. This is the next stage in bringing the whole process together online."
